Shanxi
Province, as a most important place of origin of the Chinese
nationalities, lies on the middle reaches of the Yellow River, which not
only nourished the land, but also bred splendid culture. Cultural relies
which have attracted tourists from home and abroad, include: ruins of an
ancient village in the valley of Fen River, Giant Buddha Grotto at the
foot of the Wuzhou Mountains, Xuankong Temples at the middle of Heng
Mountains, Saint Goddess Palace at the fountainhead of Jinshui, Wooden
Tower of Sakyamuni beyond the Pass of Yanmen, Yuan Dynasty frescoes by
the Dahe river, Ming-Qing Painted statues in the Temple of Shuanlin,
imposing houses of the affluent Qiao Clan and the opulent Wang Clan.
Xinzhou
Teachers University is a full-time university founded through merger
under the authorization of the Ministry of Education in March 2000.
Situated at 10 Heping West Street, Xinzhou, Shanxi, the University is
74km away from the provincial capital city Taiyuan. By the
Yuanping-Taiyuan Expressway, it is only a 35 minutes’ drive from the
university to Taiyuan.
The
university covers an area of over 600mu with 200,000 square meters for
buildings. At present, the university has got more than 800 teachers and
workers, and 6000 full-time undergraduates. With 14 departments and 46
specialties, the university has a multi-level and multi-standard
educational structure with 3-year and 4-year teacher training as its
principal element and higher vocational education and adult education as
its complementary parts.
The
university enjoys excellent conditions for teaching and researching,
such as advanced computer networks (KM Ethernet), Unicom Internet and
China Educational Teaching and Research Networks; information networks,
audio-visual labs, physical labs, chemical labs and an electronic
education center. The university has established a number of academic
centers such as the institutes of Wutaishan Buddhist Culture, Taoism
Culture, Yuan Haowen and Jin Dynasty Literature, Educational Science and
Tao Xinzhi’s Educational Theories. The university publishes a journal
of both liberal arts and science and runs its own newspaper. The
university is equipped with more than 10,000 teaching apparatus with the
worth of over 20 million yuan. The library has got a collection of more
than 400,000 copies of books, 800 kinds of periodicals, 5 electronic
reading-rooms and 10 ordinary reading-room, all of which are
administrated through automation.
The
living place we provide for foreign teachers is a two-storied house or a
flat with a living room, a kitchen, a toilet, a bedroom and a study. The
total square meter is about 70 for each set. Each house is furniture
with a fridge, a washing machine, a TV set, a set of sofa, a bed, a
bookcase, a writing desk, a telephone, a gas, a shower, some cooking
stuffs and some personal effects.
The
teaching stuff we could provide is a computer, which is connected to
Internet and a tap-recorder.
The
University is in need of three or five foreign teachers every year with
one-year or two-year employment at the monthly salary of RMB 3000-4000
Yuan, plus the expense of return ticket and a yearly travel allowance
sum of RMB 2200yuan.Applicants must have university diploma and one-year
teaching experience. Teachers from Britain, USA, Canada and Australia
with teaching experience in courses of Linguistics, British and American
Literature or writing are preferred.
